Julia Luthringer

Jules Luthringer is the Senior Science Manager for the Ocean focus area at National Geographic Society, working with marine and coastal-focused Explorers globally. She serves as an Early Career Liaison to the US National Committee for the UN Ocean Decade, a group convened by the US National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine to inspire and coordinate US scientific contributions to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. In her previous positions, she has developed policy and research briefs on marine conservation and protections around the US with NOAA, supported the acceleration of new conservation technologies, and conducted ecological research on migrating whales, coral reef responses to bleaching and climate change, and nutrient cycling and carbon sequestration potential of natural marshes and estuaries. Jules holds a Masters of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Environment, and a Bachelors in Marine Sciences from Boston University.
